HEAD OF ADULT SUPPORT & EMPLOYMENT
JOB BRIEF:
AsIAm have identified the need for a HEAD OF ADULT SUPPORT &
EMPLOYMENT position in the organisation. The successful candidate will
join the senior management team and support the CEO in implementing
the strategic goals and objectives of the organisation. The goal is to
grow the role through effective team leadership and engagement and to
drive sustainable development and long term success through empowering
the autistic community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a new Adult
Support & Employment Team comprising of an Adult Support & Wellbeing
Officer, responsible for building the capacity of autistic adults to
live independent, engaged lives in the community, and an Employment
Officer, responsible for providing advice and guidance to autistic
candidates and businesses in creating successful employment placements
while also developing an initial pilot employment programme for the
organisation.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in autism related issues in
the community and have a deep knowledge and experience of inclusive
employment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
MEMBER OF THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM
* Actively participate as a member of the senior management team and
contribute to the development and implementation of plans and
decisions by the CEO
* Support the CEO in implementing the strategic plan with particular
focus on community support objectives
* Provide regular updates on the work of the Adult Support &
Employment Team at Senior Management Team meetings and to the CEO as
requested
* Champion the values, mission and vision of AsIAm
* Represent the organisation and serve as a spokesperson at the
request and direction of the CEO or as required
ADULT SUPPORT & EMPLOYMENT TEAM
* Oversee the management of AsIAm?s monthly Employment Advice
Clinic
* Cooperate with the Training Team in providing employment support
and consultancy services to employers who are interested in recruiting
autistic talent
* Lead the design and implementation of a pilot programme which
supports inclusive employment opportunities for autistic adults
* Manage the development of a new programme which supports autistic
adults in engaging with social opportunities in the community,
accessing relevant information and developing self-advocacy skills
* Develop, lead, and provide direction to Adult Support & Employment
Programmes and implement a plan to ensure their effectiveness is
measured and reviewed on a regular basis
* Set the direction for the Adult Support & Employment Team, clearly
communicating expectations, and regularly reviewing goals, outputs,
and activities and providing coaching/mentoring as necessary
* Support and supervise individual team members ensuring that
regular and consistent supervisions and appraisals are provided, in
line with organisational policies and procedures
* Participate in regular update team meetings to identify gaps,
address issues, and implement improvements or efficiencies
* Manage and support team members working remotely
* Provide support and guidance to the CEO and Policy Officer in the
development of the organisation?s public policy positions and
lobbying activities
* Build effective partnerships within the sector and work together
to identify and communicate changes in demands and gaps in provision
for the autism community
* Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders and leverage
and share stakeholder feedback to enhance the autistic community
experience
* Apply for funding and grants as appropriate and analyse financial
information to ensure budgets are tightly managed
* Identify possible sources of funding for the organisation and
pursue or refer as appropriate
* Support community based fundraising events as and when required.
* Work closely with the Director of Corporate Affairs to ensure high
standards of corporate governance with legal, regulatory and
organisational policies
* Proactively promote a culture of safety, stability,
accountability, transparency, and prudent risk management
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
* Extensive knowledge of autism and autism related issues
* In-depth knowledge of inclusive employment, employment equality
issues and social inclusion and public policy
* Previous management / people management experience
* Experience in designing and implementing innovative programmes,
working with a wide range of stakeholders
* Outstanding communication, interpersonal, team building, and
networking abilities
* Proven track record in programme management and delivery
* Experience in supporting people with diverse and complex needs and
situations
* Ability to develop and progress funding applications, and a good
understanding of budget management
* Good computer literacy
OTHER REQUIREMENTS RELEVANT TO THE ROLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL ARE:-
* Analytical and report writing skills
* Research experience
* Experience in advocacy work
* Knowledge of charity and funding issues
* Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements of the
organisation
* Relevant academic qualification
We are looking for an individual with the above traits who is
motivated to become a high quality member of the AsIAm senior
management team and provide excellent leadership to the new Adult
Support & Employment Team.
CONTRACT DURATION
This role is full-time role for an initial three year period, with a
view to extension
SALARY & BENEFITS
AsIAm will offer salary and benefits commensurate with AsIAm pay scale
and experience. This includes a 3% pension contribution, after
probation, and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
WORKING HOURS
The role is Monday to Friday, 9:**Apply on the website** am to

The role holder is required to have a degree of flexibility with
regard to working hours with the expectation of some evening and
weekend work.
The role holder will be eligible to apply for a remote working
